Objective:
The University of Guadalajara (UDG) invites students enrolled in a doctoral program, to participate in the selection process for a three-month research visit, during Fall 2018 semester at the School of Languages, Linguistics and Film (SLLF) - Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Commission (EC).

Funding (Erasmus+ grant):

  • 850 EUR /month (individual support) during your three-month research visit to contribute towards your living costs (accommodation, food, local transportation, etc)
  • 1100 EUR to contribute towards your travel expenses (travel grant)

         Note:

  • The funding (Erasmus+ grant) is transferred to selected and nominated students after the application process to QMUL is complete. The Erasmus+ grant is paid by QMUL in three instalments. Please visit this page for full details.
  • Other program expenses including but not limited to the cost of a visa and travel/top-up insurance cover are to be paid for by the participant and are considered costs towards which the eventual individual support grant contributes.

Requirements and selection criteria:

  • Be a Mexican Citizen
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 90
  • Be a full-time and enrolled doctoral student at the University of Guadalajara
  • Not having subjects failed or pending accreditation
  • Must not be in the last semester of your academic program
  • May not currently be enrolled in any other mobility or scholarship programs
  • Be a regular doctoral student at the University of Guadalajara (must be an active student throughout the process)
  • Be nominated by the Rector of the University Center, will be facilitated by The Scholarship and Exchange Unit (UBIA) once all application requirements have been met
  • Priority will be given to applicants that have not benefited from financial support or scholarships. Consideration will also be given to applicants from disadvantaged backgrounds[1], as the Erasmus+ Programme and the EC are committed to widening participation.
  • English proficiency with an equivalent score of C1 or greater according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL) scale
  • All requirements established in this criteria must be met for the submission of the application

  • Nomination  letter from your University Center addressed to Dr. Carlos Iván Moreno Arellano, General Coordinator of the General Coordination of Cooperation and Internationalization (CGCI). To request this letter please contact the Scholarship and Exchange Unit (UBIA) at your respected University Center
  • Photocopy of a valid passport
  • Official transcript accompanied by its translation in English
  • Curriculum vitae in English
  • A personal statement explaining:
    • The reasoning for applying to this program,
    • Your motivation to become an Erasmus+ participant and to contribute to the programme objectives[2],
    • The expected benefits to your personal development and your career from participating in the Erasmus+ ICM Programme,
    • How the financial support of the Erasmus+ grant will enable you to benefit as well as benefit the wider communities of QMUL and your home institution. 
  • Research student application (attached), duly signed and completed.
  • Copy of English language qualifications in the form of IELTS examination results with minimum scores of 7.0 overall including 7.0 in Writing (C1, CEFRL) or one of the accepted alternative qualifications at the indicated levels according to the English language entry criteria as set by QMUL Admissions.

[1] The Erasmus+ Programme aims at promoting equity and inclusion by facilitating the access to participants with disadvantaged backgrounds and fewer opportunities compared to their peers whenever disadvantage limits or prevents participation in transnational activities.
